ENERGETIKA XXI is a conference regularly held in St. Petersburg in the month of November to address recent developments in the energy sector on a global basis with special focus on Russia. It is organized by UNECON (St. Petersburg State University of Economics) with financial support of private energy companies, combining an open academic atmosphere with the insights of representatives of important energy companies, like Gazprom and Gazprom Export, as well as from national and international public organizations. Participation is free, subject to registration and available places. Conference languages are English and Russian, simultaneous translation is provided.
This year one and a half days’ conference took place at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel on 10th and 11th November 2016, preceded by a pre-conference workshop on 9th November 2016.
Day 1 of the conference was devoted to recent energy price developments and the implications of the Paris Climate Conference for de-carbonization efforts and the role of Russian gas.
The first half of Day 2 addressed open issues on the future role of natural gas, its potential to replace coal in power generation and the ongoing industrial cycle.
