On 11-27 July 2023, St. Petersburg State University of Economics held a summer school on energy economics “Changing Energy Landscape” for 20 students from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (China).
In the framework of the programme, students attended lectures on international energy security, trends of the global energy markets, ESG, low-carbon agenda, hydrogen, Russia’s oil and gas sector, coal markets and decarbonization. The group also had trips to Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo and excursions around the city, in the Hermitage and St. Isaac’s Cathedral, which students really liked.
Throughout the programme, students worked on a group projects, which they defended on 26 July. The teams presented their own vision of the future energy development to the commission. The winners were awarded useful memorable prizes modelled on UNECON corporate style.

Most of all, I liked the lecture on current and long-term trends of the global energy markets because it is important for us to think about future energy development. I also loved the activities and excursions, especially in Peterhof which is so spectacular. The architecture in Russia is very beautiful, and St. Petersburg is a great city”.
