International Educational Program for specialists from Latin American countries

The International educational program «Changing Energy Landscape: the New Energy Routes or Energy Landscape towards Net Zero» was held from 29 July to 23 August 2024. 10 specialists in the energy field from Latin American and Carribean countries participated in the program.

The program was implemented at the premises of Saint Petersburg State University of Economics in cooperation with the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund and the TV BRICS international network, with support of Global Energy Association, National Committee for Promoting Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (CN CEPLA) and Russian Energy Agency (REA) by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
The main goals of the program — expanding economic, scientific and technological ties between Russia and Latin American countries and creating conditions for the development of dialogue in the energy field.

For 4 weeks participants have discussed the issues of international energy security and the prospects for energy cooperation development between Russia and Latin American countries, got aquianted with the tendencies in the world energy market, learned about Russian oil and gas sector and analyzed the strategy of low carbon economy in Russia. The main part of the program included visiting energy infrastructure sites. In Moscow within the program participants visited the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Department of Transportation, and Mosenegro power station. While in St. Peterspurg the specialists from Latin America have visited the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, KINEF oil refinery, Intellegent Laboratory of Digital Networks (Rosseti) and fuel terminal Gladkoye (Gazprom Neft). Also the virtual tours to the floating nuclear power station and Leningrad nuclear power plant were arranged. By the end of the program particpants have developed and presented their own projects of energy landscape in Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Salvador and Chile.

At the closing ceremony all participants were awarded certificates and received congratulations from the representatives of the University and the Fund:
